Transformer 400 Ton Move AeroGo designed and manufactured this custom air caster transporter system to move transformers weighing up to 400 metric tons. The system consists of two each 200 metric ton transporters and a series of skids. The transporters can be used individually to move 200 tons or linked together for 400-ton capacity. The advanced PLC electronics allow the transporters to be controlled as a single unit when linked in addition to providing a wide range of steering modes for maneuvering in tight spaces. 80 Ton Transformer Installed on AeroGo Load Modules with the power of an Air Drive Unit was delivered to site and lowered by crane below ground. The final positioning of the Transformer included a narrow hallway travel path. Float a 215-Ton Transformer This company has moved these huge transformers, on AeroGo air casters, through the manufacturing process and in and out of ovens for almost two decades.
A Better Solution Maneuvering this 35-ton load into the test chamber's narrow area provided an excellent application opportunity for AeroGo's air casters. Cranes were not an option because of the low clearance, expense, and floor loading issues. To utilize the wheels on the fixture would have required a very large and expensive forklift. With the AeroGo air casters, four (4) operators were able to walk the load into position and connect each test skid for approx two (2) weeks then reverse the process to maneuver out of the test area. Added bonus - no lost time for installation of AeroGo air caster equipment, because no modifications to the current facility were necessary to integrate and utilize AeroGo's unique air caster air bearing technology.
